Fabric Glossary

Airtex

Airtex is a thin, light weight, breathable fabric – breathable for the fact that essentially, it's full of tiny holes. Perfect for sportswear and lining. 

Bubble Crepe

Bubble crepe is a thin crinkly textured fabric which drapes well, its the perfect choice for flowy dresses and skirts, as well as scarves, and other hot weather clothing items.

Burnout - TBC

Bullet

Bullet knit fabric is made of a Polyester and Spandex blend that can be used to make beautiful headbands as well as clothing apparel and household items. 

Chiffon 

Chiffon is a lightweight plain-woven fabric with mesh like weave that gives it transparent appearance. Chiffon is most commonly used to weave Sarees, Dresses and Scarves.

Crushed Velvet 

Crushed Velvet is a high quality Fabric iproduced by mechanically twisting and crushing the material whilst still wet, resulting in a lustrous, patterned appearance. This can be used for various clothing apparel as well as household items and furnishings. Bedding, pillows, sofas and more.

Fishnet 

Fishnet is a netted material hosiery with an open, diamond-shaped knit; it is most often used as a material for stockings, tights, or bodystockings lining etc. 

Lace 

Lace is a delicate fabric made of yarn or thread in an open weblike pattern, our lace has a stretch both ways. It is suitable for dressmaking, skirs, top and more.

Liverpool/Waffle 

Liverpool polyester spandex is a soft flowing light weight fabric with a textured outside and a smooth inside. Perfect for garments that need structure such as tops, dresses, skirts and pants.

Ponte - TBC

Powermesh

Power mesh is a very light all way stretch type of fabric, It is mainly used for  the foundation of garments, in lingerie, as a lining fabric, and for decorative effects. It is very well know for it's compression capabilities as well as it's beautiful drape. It is ideal as a dress fabric or for stage, dance and sportswear.

Satin 

If a fabric is formed with a satin weave using filament fibers such as silk, polyester or nylon, the corresponding fabric is termed a satin, although some definitions insist that the fabric be made from silk. 

Scuba

Scuba is a high fashion double knit jersey thick fabric with a smooth. the material is usually made of Polyester fibers mixed with either Lycra or Spandex It is suitable for dress making, skirts and tops, Swimwear and more.

Scuba Crepe

This beautiful fabric has the bounce and spring of scuba fabric and has a crepe texture with an excellent capacity for stretch and recovery.

Spun Polyester Elastane

This is a similar fabric to viscose, it's thin soft stretchy material often used to make Nighwear, leggings, dressmaking and much more.

Velvet

Velvet is a high quality material which is plain on the back, thick and soft on the front, it has a soft and smooth texture to the fabric. 

Viscose/Rayon

Viscose/Rayon is a fiber of regenerated cellulose; it is structurally similar to cotton. It is a thin, durable and soft to the touch, and it's one of the world's most beloved textiles.
